Biography

Matt Benwitt is an associate of Lee & Associates-LA North/Ventura, a full service commercial real estate brokerage and member of the Lee & Associates group of companies. He specializes in dispositions and sales of commercial investment properties throughout Southern California.

Mr. Benwitt is a 25-year commercial real estate veteran whose experience spans brokerage, construction and project management. He has represented builders in the sale of new residential construction, and he has worked with buyers to identify and evaluate properties including site selection and due diligence. Due to his broad and varied background, Mr. Benwitt also provides a number of advisory services ranging from assistance securing permits and entitlements to tenant improvements. He has worked with a diversified group of clients including Fortune 500 companies, regional chains and entrepreneurs.

Career History / Professional Recognition

Prior to joining Lee & Associates Mr. Benwitt was an independent real estate broker representing buyers and sellers of residential and commercial properties and development projects.

Before that, he served with Cushman & Wakefield CIS where he was responsible for coordinating and overseeing the planned build-out of new Citigroup branches.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Benwitt served as a development project manager for residential projects in Santa Barbara County and as an Owner’s Construction Representative for an 800,000 SF retail development in Huntington Beach, CA. where he coordinated leasing with The Cheesecake Factory, Century Theater, Bed Bath & Beyond, Burlington Coat Factory, Cost Plus World Market, Fantastic Sams and Starbucks, among others.

His previous experience includes The Shorenstein Company, JM Consulting Group, and J.W. Bailey Construction Company. The projects he successfully completed for these companies include the design and building of data centers in the U.S. and Mexico and the construction of retail space, offices, a hospital, schools, laboratories and clean rooms.
